Frankland Island Cruise and Dive provide snorkelling day tours to the Frankland Islands (south of Cairns) and Great Barrier Reef.  The Frankland Island sector comprises five continental islands surrounded by fringing reefs.  The islands include High, Russell, Round, Mabel and Normanby, which is where your Frankland Island Cruise and Dive day tour will take you.  The islands are approximately 10km offshore from the mouth of the Mulgrave-Russell Rivers, which are 45km south of Cairns.  These uninhabited islands are home to abundant marine and bird life, making for a truly amazing snorkelling day tour destination.  Your day begins with a cruise along the freshwater Mulgrave River, before making the short crossing to Normanby Island for snorkelling, swimming and exploring.

The Frankland Islands Cruise and Dive snorkelling day tour begins with boarding at the Deeral landing on the Mulgrave River, which is approximately a 40-minute drive south of Cairns at 8.10am. Enjoy a 25-minute river cruise before making the open water crossing to the Frankland Islands.  The crossing takes approximately 25-minutes, making it the shortest open water crossing to the Great Barrier Reef in Cairns and Tropical North Queensland.  There is a maximum of 100 guests per trip, meaning you will be able to experience the uninhabited paradise that is Normanby Island National Park, without the crowds.  This is an excellent snorkelling destination, with the fringing reefs easily accessible from the beach and home to a diverse range of colourful corals and marine life.  This is also an important nesting bird habitat, so keep an eye out for the Little Tern, Beach Stone-Curlew, Pied Imperial Pigeon and Crested Tern.  Green Turtles are also often seen swimming around the islands.  Included in this snorkelling day tour experience is morning and afternoon tea, a tropical buffet lunch, including fresh local prawns, served on the beach, all snorkelling equipment and tuition and a guided snorkelling tour.  There are also some optional extras you may want to consider including a semi-submersible tour, guided island walk, introductory and certified diving.  This is the only snorkelling day tour to include a river cruise, reef and island experience.
