The Frankland Islands south of Cairns are approximately 10km offshore and surrounded by pristine coral reefs.  The Frankland Island group comprises five, uninhabited continental islands that are home to a diverse range of bird and marine life.  Frankland Island Cruise and Dive is the only operator providing daily dive tours to the Frankland Islands from Cairns and this special package includes a freshwater river cruise, ocean crossing and time on Normanby Island National Park.  Limited to just 100 guests per trip, you can explore this island paradise in relative isolation.  This dive day tour has some standard inclusions, such as morning and afternoon tea, tropical buffet lunch (served on the beach!) and a guided snorkelling tour.

The Frankland Islands dive day tour adventure begins at Deeral, approximately a 40-minute drive south of Cairns (coach transfers are available).  You will embark on a 25-minute Mulgrave River cruise before hitting the open waters and making your way to the Frankland Islands.  Located just 10km offshore, your open water crossing is short, making this an ideal dive day tour for anyone that suffers from motion sickness.  The Frankland Island group comprises five islands, but the one included in this Great Barrier Reef dive day tour is Normanby Island, which is a part of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park area.  You can enjoy up to 4.5 hours on the island, exploring its seabird populations and diving straight from the beach.  The fringing reefs are just offshore and easily accessible.  They are home to an amazing diversity of corals and marine life and green turtles are seen by many guests on the Frankland Islands Cruise and Dive day tour.  Lunch is served on the beach.  Although the atmosphere is relaxed and tropical, the food is amazing and designed to recharge your batteries.  It includes fresh prawns, chicken and ham, cheese and salads and an abundance of tropical fruits.  This is one of a few dive day tour operators to provide “southern” tours from Cairns and is the only one to include a river cruise, reef and island experience.  Extras you may want to add on to your day tour include a semi-submersible tour or guided island walk.
