Spirit of Freedom is one of Australia’s premier liveaboard Great Barrier Reef dive operators.  Their 37m boat is one of the largest in Australia and provides comfort and luxury during your four day, four night dive tour to the Great Barrier Reef, Coral Sea, Cod Hole and Ribbon Reefs.  Your journey commences with a one-hour scenic flight to Lizard Island, where you will be transferred to the Spirit of Freedom vessel.  You can enjoy up to 15 dives on the Spirit of Freedom Coral Sea and Ribbon Reefs liveaboard dive tour, commencing at the world famous Cod Hole and Dynamite Pass on the Ribbon Reefs, before heading out to the wilderness of the Coral Sea and Osprey Reef.

Spirit of Freedom is an experienced Cairns dive tour operator with Advanced Ecotourism Accreditation through Ecotourism Australia. This is in recognition of their commitment to operate at the highest environmental standards and provide their guests with education and interpretation on the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef.   You will see some amazing natural wonders during your Spirit of Freedom adventure, before ending your trip at Trinity Wharf in Cairns.

Spirit of Freedom provides a range of Cairns liveaboard dive tours to the Great Barrier Reef, varying from three to four to seven days.  The Spirit of Freedom vessel has 11 cabins with accommodation options to cater to all guests.  Choose between ocean view deluxe, ocean view standard, stateroom, double / twin share and quad share.  [The above price is for double/twin accommodation.] All cabins are air-conditioned and have their own bathroom facilities.  The crew service them daily for your comfort and convenience.  Custom-built for long range cruising, Spirit of Freedom provides a comfortable ride, even in unfavourable conditions.  As a specialist Cairns liveaboard dive tour operator, Spirit of Freedom provides professional equipment for your convenience, on its spacious external dive deck.  All meals are prepared on-board daily by the liveaboard chef, who can cater to all dietary requirements, just let them know at the time of booking.  Four meals are served each day, to ensure your energy levels are kept high, including continental and cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner.  When you are not in the water, you can relax on the top deck sun lounges, or catch up on emails at the work stations in the air-conditioned saloon.  The friendly, professional crew of 10 are always on hand to assist with any questions or needs you may have.

Dive Notes

• Recommended dive experience level: PADI Advanced or equivalent, or above
• Adventure level: mid to high, pending weather conditions, winds, swells and currents

Spirit of Freedom: Sample 4 Day Liveaboard Coral Sea Dive Itinerary
Thursday: Begin your Spirit of Freedom Great Barrier Reef liveaboard dive adventure with a one-hour scenic flight from Cairns to Lizard Island.  On arrival, you will be met by some of the friendly crew and transported to the luxurious Spirit of Freedom vessel on the tender.  After a quick orientation, Spirit of Freedom will make its way to Ribbon Reef #10, where you can begin your Great Barrier Reef diving adventure.  There will be time for two dives on the first day at a choice of five sites.  The sites include Pixie Pinnacle, Challenger Bay, Pixie Gardens, Lighthouse Bommie or the world famous Cod Hole.  Exact destinations will be chosen to maximise your dive experience, pending the conditions of the day.  In the evening, Spirit of Freedom commences its 10 hour, 200km crossing to Osprey Reef in the Coral Sea.

Friday & Saturday: Enjoy two full days of diving in this amazing destination!  Australia’s Coral Sea has excellent water quality and visibility (generally), ranging from 30m to 100m.  Volcanic atolls plummet to thousands of feet below and Osprey Reef provides a very unique dive destination, especially for those wanting to dive with sharks.  There are four to five dives available each day at a range of locations and for those that are keen, a night dive on Friday evening.

Some of Spirit of Freedom’s Coral Sea dive locations include North Horn, North Horn Wall, Halfway Wall, Admiralty, False Entrance, Around the Bend, Castles, Silver City, Secret Caves and Rapid Horn.  The names themselves are interesting and the diving is simply stunning. North Horn is known for sharks and you may encounter grey reef sharks, white tip reef sharks and hammerheads.  Get up close during the Shark Feeding dive; it will blow your mind.   Other opportunities include drift diving along a 1,000m vertical wall that features shallow caves, drop offs, overhangs and an amazing diversity of hard and soft corals.

Sunday: Today you are back at the spectacular Ribbon Reefs, where you can enjoy another full day diving.  Explore new locations such as the Temple of Doom and Flare Point.  This is your last day in the water, so make the most of it, as later that night you cruise back into Cairns where you arrive into port at 6.30am for a light breakfast and disembarking at the end of your Spirit of Freedom Coral Sea liveaboard dive adventure.
